September 12, 2013

When deciding where you want to find a job, there are many things to consider. Whether you are a sports fan, a shopper, an art enthusiast, or someone who just wants to live in a booming, business-friendly town, Dallas has it all.

Economy
MSN considers Dallas to be the third fastest growing city in the nation. Dallas is ranked first on Forbes list of Best Cities for Good Jobs. Dallas has a lower average cost of living than the U.S. average. It offers many of the same amenities as big cities like New York or Chicago. You want high-rise living? In Dallas you get that too. The prices of homes listed in Dallas are low, which is great for people who are ready to settle down and buy a home. Many corporations are even leaving California to come to Texas for its good infrastructure and low cost of doing business. With a large airport in the middle of the U.S. it is even easier for business people to fly all over the country.

Shopping
Dallas is where Neiman Marcus began. Neimans was founded in 1907 and has become a well known fashion store not only in Dallas, but all over the country. The area also boasts wonderful boutiques, malls and shopping centers such as The Galleria and Northpark Mall. These malls hold some of the nation’s top tier retailers, such as Nordstrom, Louis Vuitton, Saks 5th Avenue, and more.

Sports
Watching professional sports is a luxury that most Dallasites enjoy. An evening out to any of these games is always fun whether with friends or family. DFW is home to five professional sports teams; the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, NHL’s Dallas Stars, NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, NBL’s Texas Rangers, and FC Dallas for soccer. Though the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys play in Arlington, it is less than a 30 minute drive from Dallas. Not only that, but there are all kinds of area teams playing in minor leagues and other sports all year round.

Arts/Culture
Dallas has many great museums and galleries. The Dallas Museum of Art is free for everyone, and there is a section in the museum for kids to learn about and create art. Dallas is home to the beautiful AT&T Performing Arts Center and the awe inspiring Winspear Opera House. Throughout each year, there are events held to highlight some of the world’s most renowned artists and musicians. There is the Perot Museum of Nature and Science for those of us interested in our world and how it works and there is also the brand new Klyde Warren Park, which holds many events for children.

Food
Dallas, like many big cities, has a plethora of options when it comes to food. There are many trendy and new food places popping up all the time. In the downtown area, there are quite a few five-star restaurants to choose from, including the famous Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant at the top of the legendary Reunion Tower.
